This course is ideal for those who want to deepen their skills and develop their career in the disability sector by gaining the latest nationally accredited qualification in individual support.
Qualified workers in health, aged care and disability care are in high demand. This course is suitable for people with no previous experience, as well as those who work in a related field and want to formalise their existing skills to provide person-centred support to care for people with a disability.
Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
Crucial Training Options (CTO) training is designed for people who wish to work ‘one person at a time’ and who care deeply about the quality of the support they provide
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
- Learn how to empower people with a disability by supporting and encouraging social inclusion and community participation.
- Provide individualised services in ways that support independence, as well as physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Work respectfully with all people from a wide range of diverse social and cultural groups and situations.
People with lived experience of disability will be involved in the design, delivery and oversight of the training and assessment strategies.

COURSE COST & PAYMENT:
Full Fee: $3,200 (GST Free)
A deposit of 20% is required to before commencement of the course. Individual payment plans are available.
VENUE:
This course will be held at: Level 2, 43 Peel Street South Brisbane Qld 4101
STUDY MODE:
Weekly face-to-face workshops
On-the-job practical experience in a workplace
DURATION:
50 weeks (12 months)
COURSE DELIVERY:
The qualification is delivered over 50 weeks (12 months) comprising of:
- 4 terms, 50 weeks total
- 7.5 hours of classroom training per week
- 5 hours of self-study homework per week
- 120 hours of work placement
- 6 weeks of holiday breaks
Students can complete the assessments and practical skills workbook in their current workplace, or CTO can organise placements for students who are not currently working in industry.
Minimum course numbers are required for courses to go ahead.
PRE-ENROLMENT PROCESS:
Crucial Training Options will be undertaking pre-enrolment interviews with students. Please submit an expression of interest to the course if you are looking for is a course with ‘real life’, hands on, practical experience, that enables students to be better equipped in the workplace.
STEP 1:
Once interviews have been conducted, accepted students will then progress to the final stage of their enrolment.
STEP 2:
Complete and submit an Expression of Interest online Pre-Enrolment Form.
STEP 3:
Undertake Pre-Enrolment Interview with a CTO Team Member.
Accepted students complete final stage of their enrolment form and deposit payment.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Complete a pre-enrolment interview with one of our CTO team members.
There are no specific entry requirements to this qualification, however experience working with people with a disability and completion of Year 10 or equivalent is highly recommended.
Students are required to undertake 120 hours of work placement.
